1. I'm using a PC running Microsoft Windows and I have QuickTime installed, but the Virtual Disk Drive Design Studio (VDDS) and/or Mars Navigator (Mars) tells me I don't have QuickTime installed. What's going on? (8/3/98)
2. Under Windows I have QuickTime 3 installed and then installed QuickTime 2.1.2 and the Virtual Disk Drive Design Studio (VDDS) and/or the Mars Navigator (Mars) tells me I don't have QuickTime installed. What's going on? (8/3/98)

The problem is that three different versions of QuickTime can be installed on a Windows computer. QuickTime 2.1.2 16-bit, QuickTime 2.1.2 32-bit and QuickTime 3. Mars Navigator uses QuickTime 2.1.2 16-bit and the Virtual Disk Drive Design Studio uses QuickTime 2.1.2 32-bit. Neither one can use QuickTime 3. All three versions of QuickTime can co-exist on the same computer. The following tables will help you determine the appropriate version of QuickTime to install for the version of Windows and courseware you are using.

The 32-bit version of QuickTime 2.1.2 is on the VDDS CD (In the the Utils folder called Qt32inst.EXE)

We're unsure why this is occuring but, we do have a work around:
- Uninstall QuickTime 3 (Start:Programs:QuickTime:Uninstall QuickTime 3.0)
- Install the appropriate version of QuickTime 2.1.2, it's on the CD's (VDDS, Utils:Qt32inst.EXE and Mars, QT16.EXE)
- Re-install QuickTime 3
Warning: You will need to have the QuickTime 3 installer to reinstall QuickTime 3. If you don't have it you can download it from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ it is a 6.8 megabyte download. If you have purchased QuickTime Pro 3 and you uninstall it you, will NOT lose your settings. However, make sure that you have your Name and Registration Number written down, in case something strange happens.
